Other than the work itself and finding an accommodation, you will also have to worry about how to get places in your host country. You might be used to a particular method of transportation in your home country, but it would necessarily be the same anywhere in the world even if cars are universally used. It might be best to research or ask around beforehand what the prevalent mode of transportation is. As soon as you are informed of the situation, you can then get on to deciding how to go about it. Bringing Your OwnThere might be instances when you could bring your own car with you. It all depends on the country of destination. Do intensive research if it is indeed feasible to bring your car since you do not want to make a mistake that would cost you a lot of money. First off, you should know if the specs of your car make it applicable to be driven in a particular country. In some countries such as Japan, for example, they use left-hand drive vehicles. So needless to say, bringing a right-hand drive automobile would be useless. Checking for Spare Part Availability and ShippingYou would also want to know whether spare parts for your car are available in your host country. It would cause a lot of hassle later on if you find out that you would have to import car parts when they get damaged. The car parts in question could also be very expensive when imported, so you might want to take note of that. There are other concerns when bringing your own car to your host country. For one, will you be able to drive it down the streets? If you have a bulky car or a car built for speed, it will not be viable for you to bring it to a country famous for its narrow streets. Another thing is the hefty sum you have to pay for your car's shipping. If the shipping itself costs a lot more than buying a new car in your host country, it might be prudent to leave your old car behind and buy a new one that would consequently be more suited to your host country. Before you rejoice in finding a solution, however, you would still need to make sure that everything has been arranged such as the taxes that should be paid for your car as well as the insurance. Requirements for Eligibility to DriveThe other thing you would have to worry about is your eligibility to drive in your host country. There are some which would allow you to drive with only the passport you have from your native land. It might depend on the affiliation of your country to your host nation. If you are not allowed to drive using your old driver's license, you would need to get a new license in your host country. You might have to study again for a while if in case there are traffic laws in your host country that you are not aware of. The test methods though are not highly different. You would most probably need to sit a theoretical and do a practical exam. Perhaps the most important thing to keep in mind when you are already driving in your host country is that you have to abide by their rules and not your own. It will definitely be hard at first, given that you have been driving for a long time in your own country, but with a little practice and a lot of patience, it can be done.
